5 Essential Oils For Travel

1. Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil)

This one is amazing. If you do go to a place down in Central or South America, or anywhere in the summertime, you’re going to want Melaleuca. It’s really good for bug bites. I love this one from doTERRA because it actually has a roll-on. It comes with the oil already in it, roll it straight on the bug bite and honestly, your itch goes away. It’s really good if you cut yourself. It’s basically your all-in-one first aid. By the way, Melaleuca is tea tree oil. I highly recommend this and I love the roll-on bottle.

I have this cute bag from ‘Honey Hive Five’. She has these awesome little holders in the bags where you can actually stick your essential oils in it.

2. DigestZen

This blend is specifically by doTERRA and this is a Digestive Blend.  If you’re going anywhere that you’re not used to the food, for instance like Nicaragua, or if you’re going to India, or any country where the food is different to what we are used to, this one is awesome. Put one drop straight on your stomach. It feels amazing. It has peppermint, Caraway, Anise, and Ginger. It’s all the blend of these different essential oils to help with your digestion. You can also put one drop in your water and it instantly eases digestion and bloating.

3. On Guard

If you guys don’t know about OnGuard, this is the ‘Holy Grail Of Immunity.’ If you are prone to getting unwell, or you’re worried about getting ill on your trip, you need one drop of this. Put it in your water. It’s a great immune booster. It has wild orange peel, clove bud, cinnamon leaf and all you need is one drop in 4 oz of water. Drink that in the morning.

Just a quick warning on OnGuard. It has clove in it which is very strong. It’s considered a warming oil and clove actually has a numbing effect. This is actually good if you get canker sores or anything in your mouth, or on your gums. You could take a drop and put it there but be warned it will be numbing. I like to put this one in juice if you’re going to drink it.

4. Lemongrass

Why am I taking Lemongrass? It’s a natural bug repellant! So couple drops on your hand, rub it over your body, and you’re going to having a natural repellent for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes don’t like this smell and it’s definitely known for repelling bugs.

5. Lavender

Lavender is amazing. I highly recommend this to anybody who is starting out with oils. Lavender is great to have in your house but this one is great for sleep, burns, cuts, and skin. It has so many uses. If you happen to get a bug bite, put a Melaleuca on it, wait for the itch to go away, then Lavender on it to help alleviate. If you happen to itch and you got a scar, put Lavender on it.

6. Peppermint

Peppermint is great. Why do I love Peppermint? If you don’t want to get the DigestZen from doTERRA, you just need Peppermint. This is very good for digestion as well. Peppermint is actually in DigestZen. It has so many uses and it’s so cooling.

I’m going to a warm place in Central America so I want to be cool, which leads me to my next point of the Peppermint spray that I actually make and take with me. You could just put a drop of this on the back of your neck and you feel like you have a personal air conditioner, but take it a step further.

Make Your Own Travel Size DIY Peppermint Spray

  1. Get a 1.5 oz bottle
  2. Add 8 drops of Peppermint
  3. Fill it up with water and spray!

We were traveling around Cuba with this and spraying it on everybody. They obviously don’t have air conditioning in Cuba. If you’re from America, you’re used to air conditioning. Spray this on, and you instantly feel cool. This doubles actually as a breath spray as well and it triples as a deodorant.

So all of these things is why I love essential oils. I’m about ‘minimalist packing’ and I have literally just created a First aid kit plus deodorant and breath spray.

My whole pack of essential oils for travel is ready to go with me and that’s all I need. I don’t need to take a bunch of other stuff. I don’t need to take tablets because I have OnGuard. That’s why I recommend essential oils.
